The remote private island of Punta Pájaros extends for twenty-five miles between Ascension and Espiritu Santo Bays, in the Yucatan state of Quintana Roo. A truly unique tropical paradise, the island rests in the center of one of the world’s largest protected areas and Unesco World Heritage site, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.
At Punta Pájaros, a carefully managed private preserve within the biosphere, the natural world coexists peacefully with its human counterpart. A notable example is the resident pair of jaguars recently documented hunting green turtles on the island’s beaches.
