The remote private island of Punta Pájaros extends for twenty-five miles between Ascension and Espiritu Santo Bays, in the Yucatan state of Quintana Roo. A truly unique tropical paradise, the island rests in the center of one of the world’s largest protected areas and Unesco World Heritage site, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.
At Punta Pájaros, a carefully managed private preserve within the biosphere, the natural world coexists peacefully with its human counterpart. A notable example is the resident pair of jaguars recently documented hunting green turtles on the island’s beaches.
From a fly-fisherman’s perspective, the location of Punta Pájaros could not be more perfect. With Casa Blanca Lodge on the southern edge of Ascension Bay and Playa Blanca on the northern edge of Espiritu Santo Bay, both lodges are literally surrounded by some of the most sought after game fish in the world.
