Fishing Report – May 17–24, 2025

As the third week of May unfolded, the energy on the water built steadily. The wind picked up slightly midweek (up to 12 mph), but early mornings remained glassy and full of opportunity. The fish were active, and the mood was high.

The fisheries delivered consistent bonefish and a few solid permit sightings, though the big ones stayed just out of reach. Playa Blanca’s lagoon system lit up with rolling tarpon, and Carl landed a beautiful 25-pounder after a smooth cast and a strong fight — the biggest of the season so far.

But perhaps the highlight came on land: a birthday celebration for John, complete with a cake made by the lodge staff and a surprise group toast that brought the house down. As always, it’s the mix of adventure and hospitality that makes this place unforgettable.
