A great Catch

We had 5 boats fishing at Playa Blanca this week. Thomas had a great week landing 4 permit despite some wicked wind. Keith who arrived on Monday made the best of his short week and landed 6 permit. Gary and Steve landed huge numbers of bonefish. They made a trip to the tarpon lagoon and jumped a handful of baby tarpon. Johnson ended the week with a grand slam after looking for permit all week. Wilton showed his dad how to get a permit on his first cast ever fishing for permit!

At Casa Blanca we had a family from North Carolina. John had some great permit opportunities on Monday but they eluded him. Brunson was able to land many nice bonefish and his first tarpon. The family had the lodge to themselves and enjoyed all of the sight that Punta Pajaros has to offer.

Productive Weekend

Rich´s second week was the couples week. We had two first permits for Nicole and Heidi. They both have fished at the lodge for a number of years and finally dedicated some time to fishing for permit. We all were excited for them to catch their first permit!! First time saltwater angler Jaz landed numerous bonefish and managed to get a tarpon to the boat. The spring winds have been blowing and we are waiting for things to settle out.

At Casa Blanca our good friend Whitney was back on island for the week. Day one Whitney landed a permit and saw many fish. The weather got tough with strong winds and clouds later in the week. Whitney had a great birthday celebration at Casa Blanca.

TrouthHunter Group

We welcomed back Rich Paini and his group from TroutHunter lodge. The wind was difficult at times throughout the week but anglers made the most of it. Ben landed five permit on the week. Rich was successful in landing a few good fish as well. Brian landed a nice permit day one and then the weather deteriorated a bit. Zach had some troubles with fish breaking off but managed to get one to the boat mid week. Fishing was challenging at times but the crew made the best of their opportunities.

At Casa Blanca we had two boats. Mike spent the week chasing permit and had many opportunities. The fish were not easy and he had a few eat the fly. Ultimately the permit won the battle but Mike enjoyed learning and getting better at permit fishing. Tom was able to land his first permit and his first ever grand slam during the week. Congratulations to Tom!

Unforgettable Weekend

At Playa Rooster from Stonefly Inn had his second week at the lodge this week. We had a great week of fishing. Jimmy and Rooster ended the permit drought and both got a fish mid week. Susan and Matt continued to catch big numbers of permit throughout the week. Tyler scored a good permit over 15lbs with his guide Andres. Joe hooked up on a great fish on a ray on Thursday and then landed 5 more on Friday. Justin and Chris from Texas both put up landed permit over the week. Trevor caught a few permit to put the group over 30 fish for the week. We always have a fun time with this group and this year was no different.

At Casa Blanca the fishing week was excellent, we started the week in the Santa Rosa lagoon due to the north wind of 17 to 20 knots, during the week the wind changed to the southeast and the conditions were better for fishing, client Whitney, Chip and Bill, they caught some beautiful Permits, in the afternoons we coordinated Bochie Game games, Cornhole, the group was very happy a Mexican night with Guitars was organized, Mr. Chip is very professional with his guitar as well as the employee Jesus.

Rooster Anglers

We welcomed a group of 14 anglers with Rooster from Stonefly in Twin Bridges, MT. There were a few new faces from Bend OR this week. Jim and Jack both landed their first permit and enjoyed success with other species. Matt and Susan landed a handful of permit and Susan won the annual permit tournament on Thursday despite tough conditions. The wind this week continued to switch from NE to SE and made permit a little unsettled. Once the conditions settled out Friday the fishing proved to be much better. The soccer game versus the guides ended in a tie and no major injuries occurred. This crew knows how to catch fish and enjoy the lodge!

Another Great Time

We had 6 boats fishing out of Playa and 1 boat at Casa this week. Dr. Mackie caught permit throughout the week and managed to bring 4 to the boat. Jonathan Mackie showed up mid week but still found four permit over the short week. Fred and Terri from Kansas City were bummed on the Chiefs Super Bowl loss but Terri landed her first tarpon ever and Fred pulled in a nice on in Santa Rosa. Chase and Bob a father son duo from Texas did very well with permit over their stay and Chase caught a nice box fish and trigger fish. Turns out boxfish do have teeth and Chase found out the hard way when it latched onto his finger. Brian fished solo all week and found success with nice snook and 6 permit. This group has been coming for years and always has a great time.

In Casa Blanca Mr. Jerry Arnold had an excellent week, he started the week catching a good Tarpon as well as a Snook, during the week he caught good-sized bonefish that were a lot of action on his fishing day, very happy to have dinner with him Playa Blanca group on Mexican night, Jerry very grateful to the service and staff.
