The new year kicked off with excellent fishing at Playa Blanca and Casa Blanca. Steady northern winds averaging 9 mph and water temperatures near 78°F created ideal conditions across the flats and backcountry lagoons.
A large group of anglers from World Cast Anglers had an early-week highlight, landing two permits on the ocean side despite the breeze. Meanwhile, James and Edward spent most of their time chasing bonefish, with great results and several strong fish caught on foot. One morning trip to the tarpon lagoon gave Donovan and David the chance to jump three baby tarpons, a thrilling experience to start the season.
The week ended on a high note as Robert Kirby completed a grand slam — a promising sign of what’s to come in the weeks ahead.
